Dec 6th: Holiday Party

Hi All! December 6th will be our annual holiday party! We will be meeting at the Arboretum at 7:00PM

Dinner will be provided from Jason’s Deli. As tradition, we will also have a white elephant gift exchange. If you would like to participate, please bring a gift valued between $15-$20. We hope to see you there!

Hi All! Our November meeting is coming up so you know what that means! It’s time for our annual plant swap! Bring any plants or cuttings you’d like to trade!

As usual we will be meeting at 7:00PM at the arboretum.

July 5th: Cactus Club Meeting

Join us at 7PM for our next Cactus Club meeting!

For our program, Irwin will give a brief slideshow on plant photography, with some easy hints on how to make better pictures and have more fun in the process. If you have a plant you want to know more about, bring it. Chances are we have someone in the group who know its name and how to grow it. Remember, regardless of the categories of plants to bring for the meeting , if something looks spectacular, bring it.

Featured Plants this Month: Variegated, Monstrose, Crested Plants, and Miniature plants… and, as usual, any blooming plants that you’d like to show off.

Discover the depth and duration of human and Agave coevolution across the desert southwest and learn about the unusual Agaves apparently associated with archaeological sites that were abandoned long ago. These Agaves appear to be anthropogenic cultivars – living archaeological relics developed and planted by indigenous Native Americans – and many are still growing exactly where they were planted hundreds of years ago.

April 30th: CSSA Webinar – The Succulent Collection of Babylonstoren Farm with Ernst van Jaarsveld

Join us at 12PM CST for another CSSA webinar!

The Succulent Collection of Babylonstoren Farm is situated near Paarl in the Western Cape. It has a Mediterranean type climate with long dry summers. The succulent section on this farm was started 6 years ago and consists of  several rockeries, biomes garden, succulent house and a newly added outdoor Welwitschia garden where plants from the Namib are grown (from seed). This garden is focused mainly on succulents from southern Africa and is run like a botanical garden using the IRIS accessioning system.
