NORTH TEXAS CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SOCIETY

ARTICLE I – NAME AND PURPOSE
Section 1: The name of this organization shall be NORTH TEXAS CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SOCIETY.
Section 2: The purpose for which this organization is formed is to promote interest in and knowledge of succulent plants not only within its membership, but among external groups and individuals. This Society and its members shall encourage the conservation of succulent plants as an endangered natural resource.

ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
Section Is Active Member – A member in good standing. A voting membership. Includes a membership in the CSSA. (Only one CSSA membership shall be required per family.)
Section 2: Honorary Member – One deemed worthy of honorary membership by the voting membership.
Section j: Junior Member – An individual 18 years of age or younger. A junior member shall be sponsored by an active member. A non-voting membership.

ARTICLE III – DUES AND FISCAL YEAR
Section Is Dues
• Active Member – $10.00 per year in addition to the reduced 100% membership fee for the CSSA. Dues for a member joining between July 1 and December 31 shall be $5.00 for the remainder of that year.
• Honorary Member – None.
• Junior Member – $4.00 per year. Dues for a junior member joining between July 1 and December 31 shall be $2.00 for the remainder of that year.

Section 2: Fiscal Year — The fiscal year shall run from January 1 through December 31. Members joining anytime after January 1 shall receive the CSSA Journal from January 1 of that year.

ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS
Section Is The officers of this society shall be as follows:
A. President
B. Vice-President
C, Secretary
D, Treasurer

The term of offices shall be for a period of one year beginning January 1. Nominees for offices shall be presented to the membership by the Nominating Committee at the regular November meeting. Election of officers shall be held during the regular December meeting. The selection of officers shall be by majority vote of the members present.

ARTICLE V – DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section 1:
President – Shall preside at regular Society meetings. He shall coordinate the internal activities of the Society.
Vice-President – Shall aid the President in the performance of the duties of his office. He shall assume the duties of President in his absence.
Secretary – Shall be responsible for the minutes of regular Society meetings and other duties as requested by the President or Vice-President.
Treasurer – Shall be responsible and accountable for fiscal matters as pertains to the Society.
(A meeting of officers may be called at such time as conditions warrant.)

ARTICLE VI – COMMITTEES
Section 1: Standing Committees;
A. Membership Committee
B. Publicity Committee
C. Program Committee
D. Affiliate Committee

Section 2: Special Committees;
A. Show Committee
B. Nominating Committee
C. Any other committee deemed necessary.
Committees shall be chaired by an appointed Chairman and committee members shall be selected-from the membership by the Chairman.

ARTICLE VII – MEETINGS
Section 1: Regular Meetings – Shall be held at 7:30 PM on the first Tuesday of each month. The meeting location shall be agreed upon by the membership. A regularly scheduled meeting coinciding with a legal holiday shall be re-scheduled to the mutual agreement of the membership.
Section 2: Special Meetings – Shall be called at such time as conditions warrant.

ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS AND RULES
Section 1: Amendments – The By-Laws of this Society may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the voting membership.
Section 2: Rules – Roberts’ Rules of Order and common sense shall govern all points of order during Society meetings.
